Tina's Tangent - Feb 23, 2021
For those that know me, you know that I rant and go on tangents...for those that don’t… Hi! 💁♀️ My name is Tina, I talk a lot, I rant, and I go on tangents:)
Today’s first Tina Tangent that seemed appropriate during February. This is a notoriously hard month to work hard and stay motivated...which always makes me think of my Grandpa.
My Grandpa Frank was TOUGH, he was salty, and he was GREAT. He was a man of few words and worked his ass off. Coming to the US from Italy with nothing, he built a business, slowly, over decades. He wasn’t an overnight success…he did not “get rich quick” or have a successful business in the first 2 - 5 -10 years. His stories of consistent action and effort, little bit by little bit, always resonated with me. Habits and consistency. He used to say “You don't have to be the smartest, or the most talented, or the best. You can be outsmarted, you can be outwitted and you can be out lucked, but never...ever…be out worked”.
There are no guarantees in life and you can’t control everything (...though LAAAWWDDDY do I try!). The ONE thing you can control is your effort. If it means a lot to you and if you want something to change for you, the only way is RELENTLESS pursuit and consistent effort. If you focus on consistent effort, it doesn't have to be the HARDEST effort every day, it just has to be effort, every day. Little bit by little bit, progress will come. Things that grow slow last a whole lot longer than things that happen fast with no work/habits/effort behind them. I mean, come one, look at the history of boy bands, New Kids on the Block, NYSNC, Backstreet Boys…years of consistent effort and old broads like me are still going to their concerts. Remember “When the Lights Go out” by 5ive?? That song was sweet, but they are nowhere to be found now. I think you get my point:)
So there we have it, first Tina Tangent - dedicated to Grandpa Frank, “The Grumpiest Man on Priscilla Beach” ♥
Cheers to a strong and consistent February.
